Garnet in any shade also acts as a powerful grounding stone. Employed with another crystal which can gift qualities the user wishes to enhance in their own nature (i.e. compassion, generosity, fidelity, honesty), Garnet can act to ‘set’ the desired quality, in much the same way as the hardening component of an epoxy causes the glue to set. Program both the Garnet and the other stone(s), then meditate with them for as long as you feel necessary: this serves to focus your own energy and your will, aligning them with the program you set on the stones. If the stones are set in jewellery, wearing them after you finish the meditation is also helpful, as their directed energies will be able to continue influencing you and imbuing the requested qualities.

@Meri Harris, you need to work out which form of Garnet would be best for you. Once you know that, the crystal should be carried by any decent crystal shop, or you can look around the internet for bargains. Garnet types like Pyrope and Almandine are conparatively easy to obtain and shouldn’t be too costly; but types such as Mandarin, Tsavorite and Spessartine will set you back somewhat more. I’ve had a natural deep-red Pyrope and a green Grossular since I was 14. They’re solo stones, not clusters or in matrix (though the Grossular does have a baby crystal attached to one side) and they have such comforting energies, they live under my pillow.

When you get ‘your’ Garnet, make very sure to cleanse it thoroughly, because the species can be prone to retaining negative energy, and ‘your’ Garnet will have been handled by a number of people before it comes to you, especially if you buy it online. For example, my lovely Labradorite tumblestone, which I purchased on the Amazon UK Marketplace on Christmas Day 2018, and which arrived with the resumption of deliveries on Dec 29th, came to me with the negative energy still lingering on it from two men working in the postal system: it was easy to divine that one had just had a serious argument with his lady, while the other had a very heavy cold (or possibly a dose of the ‘flu), and was less than happy to have it, and to have to work in that condition, over the Festive period. Had I not set about cleansing the Labradorite straight away, the bad energy – and maybe the cold too, though I couldn’t tell where that man was, how recently he’d handled the package, or what his hand hygiene was like – would just have transferred to me. That, for me, invariably results in a vicious headache and a foul mood. Not, over the Season of Goodwill, very helpful. Worse: I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and if the cold/‘flu had transferred to me too (luckily not so likely, as I hadn’t long caught one my husband brought home from a business trip to Kent) it could have precipitated a flare situation — any contagion makes my immune system become even more hyperactive, worsening the symptomatic pain and inflammation fivefold, to the point where I can barely move.

Once cleansed, though, that little Labradorite quickly became a “crystal BFF”; handle your Garnet the right way, and it can do the same for you!

    Love and Light.
